Bus stop attack on girl, 12

A girl was grabbed by the hair and thrown to the ground as she waited with friends for a bus.

Officers are investigating the assault which took place took place between 7.15pm and 7.45pm on Monday November 25 at the bus stop on Cotmanhay Road near Church Street.

Police arrived to find two ‘distressed’ girls, aged 12 and 15, who had been waiting at the bus stop with their friend who was the victim of the assault.

While waiting three women, all described as being in their 30s, approached them. One of the women shouted something at the girls, she went on to grab hold of the victim’s hair pulling her around before banging her head on the pavement.

Her friends attempted to pull the woman off and the three women eventually walked off in the direction of Skevington Road shouting abuse.

The girl sustained injuries but police say they were not life-threatening.

The woman is described as being of stocky build and around 5ft 8ins. She had brown hair and was wearing black leggings and a green parka style coat with the hood up.

The second woman is described as 5ft 9ins with blonde shoulder length hair. She was wearing a blue coat with black leggings.

The third woman looked around 30 years of age and was wearing a blue waterproof style jacket. She was also described as having blood all over her face which looked dry as if something had happened earlier that evening.
