Sutton-based car supermarket AvailableCar has reached a massive milestone by raising more than £500,000 for its adopted charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
Customers at the Sutton-in Ashfield and Castle Donnington sites are asked to add a donation up to the value of £5 onto the price of their car. AvailableCar then match the figure and all the money raised goes straight to the hospice based in Loughborough.
Paul Arscott, AvailableCar operations director, said: “Everyone at AvailableCar has been raising money for Rainbows for almost seven years now, so we are all delighted to see the figure reach the half a million pound mark.
“Our in-store donation scheme has been a key factor in our fundraising efforts, thanks to the generosity of our wonderful customers and our AvailableCar directors and owners Graham and Alison Bell, who match every donation received.
“Almost all of our customers donate something and for that, we are extremely grateful as it makes such a huge difference to our fundraising figure.”
In addition, AvailableCar team members have done a wonderful job in trying to raise funds and awareness for Rainbows over the years. They have arranged marathons, golf days, fun runs, sponsored sky dives and cycling events to name just a few.
Kate Golding, corporate partnership manager at Rainbows, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Available Car for their continued fundraising and support over the last few years.
“Through a range of initiatives and fundraising activities, the management teams, staff and customers have gone above and beyond to help raise vital funds for the hospice.
“A total of £500,000 is a huge milestone and we’re delighted to be able to celebrate this achievement with them. The money raised will help Rainbows provide care and support for children from across the East Midlands with terminal and life limiting illnesses, as well as their families.”
