THE 80th Long Eaton Carnival takes place this weekend, and organisers are pulling out all the stops.

The annual event looks set to be the biggest in its history spanning three days.

On Friday, there will be an evening of music hosted by town record label Viva Republik and featuring local bands.

Tickets for over 18s only are £4 from or £5 on the door.

Saturday is carnival day with the annual parade through the town centre, arriving at West Park at about 12.30pm.

There will be three marquees jam packed with live entertainment from local singers, bands, dancers and performers.

The day will be officially opened by Erewash MP Jessica Lee and Mayor of Erewash Cllr Kevin Miller.

On Sunday there will be a birthday party for the carnival, including fun for all the family in West Park.
