Maggie Throup, the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Erewash, has welcomed the new National Infrastructure Plan which sets out clear plans for investment in infrastructure, including roads, rail, and local flood defences.
It includes plans to open up the hard shoulder on the M1 between junctions 24 and 25 .
Ms Throup, pictured with Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick, McLoughlin said: “Locally, everyone knows that the M1 between junction 24 and junction 25 is heavily congested. I’m delighted that funds are being put in place to open up the hard shoulder on this stretch and use smart technology to keep the traffic moving.
“At the same time, I will be calling upon the Secretary of State to ensure money is put aside for noise barriers to be installed along the western side of this stretch of motorway.”
