A GROUP of entertainers has held a charity show to raise cash to add to the thousands it has raised for good causes over nearly two decades.
Cantata – a mixed ensemble group of entertainers with roots in Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Heanor – raised £450 for Diabetes UK and the Air Ambulance service after delighting a packed audience at Long Eaton’s newly restored Duchess Theatre with a Christmas concert.
Motivated by Lisa and Paul Mills from Heanor, where Cantata regularly holds its rehearsals, the choir is made up of around 20 people wach with individual qualities.
Musical director Lisa Mills, who runs her won music school in the town is proud of what has been achieved.
“Quality holds the key to our success. As well as staging entertaining concerts, our aim is to bring pleasure and joy to our patrons and to the good causes we choose to help,” she said.
