cheques to help local sports clubs and teams have been handed out by Derbyshire County Council as part of its Sports Action Grant scheme.
Ilkeston Outlaws Basketball Club were given £1,000 to supply teams with balls, bibs and coaching aids.
Stanton-by-Dale Cricket Club also received a grant for £1,000, the money will be used to help with the cost of replacing sightscreens at the ground which the club says will help to attract more players and offer better playing conditions.
On Monday 83 applications to the fund totalling £67,530 were approved.
Other Erewash teams to benefit from the scheme were Long Eaton United Football Club, Long Eaton Rugby Football Club, Long Eaton Swimming Club and the Devil’s Elbow Rowing Club based at Trent Lock.
