There are just under three weeks remaining on a consultation over plans to relocate Sandiacre’s Post Office.
Plans have been put forward to transfer the facility from its current base at Derby Road to the Bargain Booze on Stanton Road, with Post Office services operating from two tills and providing a more modern service to customers.
The changes would also bring longer opening hours, with the branch opening at 6am and closing at 10pm every day.
Its current location sees the service provided between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday, with Saturday opening hours set at 9am until 12.30pm and no service on Sundays.
The proposals are part of a major nationwide programme of modernisation taking place across the Post Office network.
In a letter written to customers, Suzanne Richardson, Regional Network Manager for the Post Office, said: “I’m pleased to tell you that, if the move goes ahead, subject to consultation it will change to one of our new local-style branches.
“This change is part of a major programme of modernisation taking place across the Post Office network, the largest in the history of Post Office Ltd.
“The programme is underpinned by Government investment and will see up to 8,000 branches modernised and additional investment in over 3,000 community and outreach branches.
“Before we finalise our plans, we would really like to hear your views on the proposed location,”
