A council is expected to approve plans to buy a disused police station and give it a new lease of life.
The old Stapleford station building, in Toton Lane, was put on the market in June and Broxtowe Borough Council were expected to confirm the purchase at a metting after the Advertiser went to press.
The station has been empty since March and police have now moved into the nearby Meeting Place, in Nottingham Road.
A number of potential uses for the building have been put forward including affordable housing, a community contact point or a council neighbourhood office.
Stapleford Town Council wants to hear ideas from the public about potential uses for the building.
The council’s cabinet met on Tuesday night and was expected to set up a group to look at the options for developing the site after the go ahead is given.
Notts Police invited offers in excess of £180,000 for the building. However, the council’s bid of £165,000 was accepted on Monday, August 19.
