A MOTION is due to be proposed at a meeting tonight (Thursday) that money cut from councillors’ allowances is spent on emergency grit provision in the borough.

Last year every Erewash borough councillors agreed to take a five per cent cut to their allowances, a move which is set to save the the authority £15,000 a year.

Now opposition councillors have suggested that the cash is ringfenced and spent on grit bins, instead of the £1,500 currently being suggested by the leading group.
