THE MOTORBIKE rider who died after a collision in Sandiacre last week has been named as Bernard Guy from the town.

The 47-year-old died en route to hospital after the crash in Ilkeston Road, near the junction with Stanton Gate, last Tuesday.

Police said he had been riding a Suzuki 1,000cc motorcycle when it was in collision with a red Ford Ka car at about 7.15pm.

A firefighter told the Advertiser that three off-duty firefighters from white watch at Long Eaton fire station stopped on their way home from work to administer CPR to Mr Guy until the emergency services arrived.

An inquest into his death was due to open on Wednesday morning.
