Appeal after ‘altercation’

POLICE have this week put out an appeal for witnesses to an assault that happened last month in Ilkeston.

A 39-year-old man was treated at Ilkeston Community Hospital for head and arm injuries after he and another man were involved in an altercation in Gregory Street at about 7pm on Satruday April 9.

A 61-year-old man from Awsworth was arrested in connection with the assault and was released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Officers said they would particularly like to speak to a man who stopped, got out of his car and went to assist the victim.

A police spokesman said: “He could have information that would help the inquiry.”

Anyone with information should call Pc Jo McGee at Ilkeston police on 0345 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
