Police are appealing for the owner of a German Shepherd dog to come forward after it bit a boy on the leg in Stanley Common.

The six-year-old boy was playing with friends in a wooded area near Common Lane when the dog walker went by.

The dog, which was not on its lead, bit the boy on his leg as it passed. Although the bite did not break the skin, it left a mark on the boy’s leg and a hole in his trousers.

Police are appealing for the owner of the dog to come forward. The only description is that the dog walker was a woman and had long hair.

The incident happened at about 5.30pm on Friday, August 28.

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101, quoting crime reference 37295/15.
