Appeal for witnesses to Long Eaton arson attack

Police are urging anyone with any information about a suspected arson attack on a Long Eaton house to come forward.

The owner of the house, on Peveril Crescent, was away last week and returned home on Saturday to find fire damage inside the house.

Three small fires had been set in the kitchen using paper, causing extensive damage to the kitchen. The rest of the house also had smoke damage.

An upstairs window was open and the back door unlocked, even though the owner was sure that it had been locked when they went away.

The house had been searched, with jewellery, a television and some cash taken.

Derbyshire police are carrying out door to door enquiries to see if any neighbours saw anything suspicious and are not sure at what point during the week the house was targeted.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Derbyshire police on 101.
