Bike gear seized on Nutbrook Trail

NUISANCE teenager motorbike riders had equipment seized during a police operation on the Nutbrook Trail.

After receiving a number of complaints about bikers, officers from Smalley, Mapperley and Shipley Safer Neighbourhood Team took part in the operation on the 10-mile path between Shipley Country Park and Long Eaton.

On Saturday March 19 officers used off road vehicles to catch offenders, including a teenager who had his motorcycle seized for having no insurance and no licence. Another received a fixed penalty notice for not displaying L-plates and a 15-year-old had a can of petrol seized.

Pc Leanne Peck said: “We had a very successful day, We hope to continue this operation as we are sure the motorcycles will continue to ride the trail in the summer months. By seizing the bikes we are making the trail a safer place for the public to walk and cycle.”
