A police operation last week saw more than 80 vehicles stopped for driving offences and two cars towed away.
A total of 56 people were stopped between 8.30am and 2pm last Tuesday in Station Road, Ilkeston, for not wearing seatbelts.
One car was seized for having no insurance and another because the driver had no licence.
Four drivers were caught using mobile phones, five vehicles for number plate offences and three were asked to remove illegal tints.
Pc Andy Kendall-Edwards said: “The results speak for themselves. We’ve had too many preventable traffic fatalities so the more prevention the better.”
