A DRUG dealer has been stripped of more than £9,000 via police powers to confiscate proceeds of crime.
In November last year, officers discovered cannabis plants and cash at Neil Newton’s home in Bostock’s Lane, Long Eaton.
The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to drugs possession with intent to supply and received a two-year jail sentence, suspended for 18 months.
At two separate hearings under the Proceeds of Crime Act, courts in Nottingham and Derby confiscated £4,255 from Newton’s bank account and £2,631 found in his home.
He was also ordered to pay costs totalling more than £3,000.
The act gives the police the power to strip offenders of cash and other assets.
