People who try to avoid paying court fines in Derbyshire are to be targeted in a month-long campaign.
Throughout February, Her Majesty’s Courts Service (HMCS) will aim to blitz a list of fine-dodgers.
Across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire there were 4,111 Attachment of Earnings Orders — which means money is taken from a defendant’s wages to pay a debt — and 21,262 Deduction from Benefits Orders issued in the 12 months to September 2010.
Operation Crackdown will see HMCS enforcement officers and police target offenders’ homes to collect unpaid fines.
Bailiffs will also be issued with warrants so they can confiscate property.
HMCS have warned that where necessary, those who refuse to co-operate will be arrested.
