A Stapleford bag snatcher has been jailed for four years after a string of thefts.

Daniel Allsop, 27, of Cambridge Close pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday to handling stolen goods after admitting his involvement in the snatching of a 91-year-old’s bag in Stapleford on Wednesday May 2.

The incident happened near the junction of Frederick Street and Warren Avenue. She was left shaken and suffered bruising to her arm and hand.

He was sentenced to seven months for the offence to run concurrently with sentences he has received in connection with a bag snatch on May 1 and an attempted bag snatch on May 2.

In the first attack he dragged his 79-year-old victim to the floor in Bramcote, when he stole her bag, leaving her with a broken leg. He was sentenced to three years in jail.

He tried to cut the handles off a bag being carried by a 48-year-old woman in Long Eaton. She managed to keep hold of her bag. He received a consecutive year behind bars.
