Police say they want two people who stopped to help a teenager, who was seriously injured in an assault on Tuesday night, to come forward.
A spokesman for the force said that an off-duty nurse and a man, who was driving a BMW, helped to treat the 17-year-old after the attack at about 8pm near the bottom of Cotmanhay Road.
The victim, from Long Eaton, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre with head injuries, where he remains this morning in a critical condition in intensive care.
A 17-year-old from Ilkeston was arrested later during the evening and will be questioned today.
Any witnesses, including the two who stopped, are urged to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
