Police are hoping a 'distinctive car' spotted near the scene of a Ilkeston burglary may lead them to suspect.

Officers are investigating the burglary at a house in Corporation Road in the afternoon of February 10.

Jewellery, including wedding rings and earrings, were stolen from the house and after the burglary the homeowner spotted a green Volkswagen Scirocco

Officers said: "We’re asking because one was seen parked outside a property that was later found to have been broken into.

"The homeowner had returned to the property and saw the green 61 plate Scirocco parked outside. After waiting a few minutes, a man appeared and drove off in the car.

"We want to trace that man and are asking for anyone who saw a green Scirocco in the area to get in touch."

If you saw the car, know someone who drives one, or if you have a Scirocco and were in Corporation Road that day, please call police immediately.

Anyone who can help should call DC Bali Chahal on 101, quoting reference 17000059596 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
