A man has been jailed for 18 years for a string of historic sex abuse charges.

Kenneth Hutchinson, 68, of Pitesto Arges, Romania, was found guilty of seven counts of indecent assault and three counts of rape against two girls when he appeared at Birmingham crown court last Thursday.

The incidents took place in the late 1970s and early 1980s and the abuse started when the girls were aged nine and 11.

Hutchinson, previously of Long Eaton, was extradited from Romania on January 22 this year when he was arrested and remanded by Derbyshire officers.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges against him but a jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict to all ten counts.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.
