Man posing as policeman steals Ilkeston pensioner’s purse

Detectives in Ilkeston are appealing for witnesses after an elderly lady had her purse stolen by a man posing as a police officer.

The distraction burglary happened at around 6.40pm on Friday, October 26 when the man called at the door of an 85-year-old woman’s home on Nottingham Road.

The woman let the man in and later realised her purse was missing from her handbag.

The man was described as white, around 5ft 6in tall, in his 30s and wearing a navy blue suit.

Another burglary occurred on Nottingham Road on Thursday, October 18.

A man took cash from the house and left behind a calendar from a large holdall he was carrying.

Police would like to speak to other residents in the area who have been visited by cold callers and are reminding people to be safety conscious if an unknown person knocks on their door.
