Man ‘stole’ food and booze

A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been charged after allegedly attempting to steal food and booze from a supermarket warehouse.

Police said Andrew Sills, of Long Eaton, was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning after breaking in to Asda in Midland Street.

A spokesman said he climbed over fencing before getting into a warehouse at about 3.15am.

Police said he was carrying cans of lager, packs of Chewit sweets and tins of chopped tomatoes when he was detained by staff after attempting to run away.

He was interviewed and has since been bailed

He will appear before magistrates in Derby on Tuesday January 24, charged with burglary.
