Four masked youths are being hunted after dragging a man to the ground and stealing a ring.

The attack took place in Corporation Road, Ilkeston, and police are seeking public help in catching the offenders.

It happened on Saturday evening at about 8pm when the 22-year-old was walking down the hill towards Nottingham Road. The gang approached him and asked for money before pulling him backwards onto the ground.

The man was unhurt but the offenders got away with cash and his girlfriend’s ring, which he had planned to take to a jeweller’s to be cleaned. The victim has been able to provide a brief description of the four.

Det Sgt Sandra Gibbs said: “This was very intimidating behaviour. We hope someone may remember these youths hanging around the top of the road near Middleton Street, who saw them on the road or who knows who they are.”

The four are had their faces covered with either balaclavas or scarves. They could be aged 16 or 17 and are slim. At the time they wore dark clothing.

After the robbery, they are thought to have run down the road and up Trowell Avenue.
