Meat van stolen from pub

A VAN full of meat was stolen from an Ilkeston pub car park and later abandoned, police have said.

The white Greedy Pig Butchers van was making a delivery to the Mallard Inn in Heanor Road, at about 10.30am on Friday when it was stolen from the car park.

It was seen speeding along Coronation Road, Cossall.

The Renault van was found abandoned in The Glebe, Awsworth, but the meat, including, gammon, pork, beef and turkey, had been stolen as well as an iPhone 4 and some cash.

A dark-coloured Peugeot was seen on the Mallard car park at the time of the theft and driving off The Glebe onto Newton’s Lane.

Neighbours also reported seeing a stocky white man get into the car in the village.

Call police on 101 with information.
