ARSONISTS have targeted a Cotmanhay newsagents just a week after it was raided by burglars, police have said.

Firefighters from Ilkeston fire station were called to Miller’s News in Cotmanhay Road in the early hours of Tuesday last week.

They found the front of the shop on fire at about 1am.

Police investigating the blaze confirmed that the fire was started maliciously.

The newsagent, owned by shop chain Lifestyle Express, was raided on the previous Tuesday when burglars stole cash and cigarettes and the keys to the owner’s blue Ford Fiesta parked outside, which they fled in.

The shop has been closed for a few weeks.

Anyone with information about either incident should call police on 0345 123 33 33 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111..
