A 70-YEAR-OLD man seen waving an imitation revolver in Ilkeston town centre has been cautioned.

The pensioner was spotted by an off duty police sergeant at about 12noon on Tuesday with ‘something that looked like a gun’ in Lloyds TSB bank in Market Place.

He had also been seen waving the ‘gun’ at workmen.

The officer called his colleagues at Ilkeston station who arrested the man as he walked out of Yeomans camping stores further down Bath Street.

He was arrested and searched and police discovered the imitation revolver was actually a cigarette lighter.

Officers also found he had been carrying a knife in his bag.

He was cautioned for possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
