Off-duty police officer is honoured

A POLICE officer who saved a man’s life has been honoured for his actions.

Pc John Dickinson has been awarded a Royal Humane Society Resuscitation Certificate for helping a man who had collapsed on the street.

Pc Dickinson was driving home from work in March last year when he came across a group of people surrounding a collapsed man on Dovedale Avenue, Long Eaton.

He checked the man for vital signs and found none so carried out CPR for 15 to 20 minutes until an ambulance arrived. He carried on helping paramedics who defibrillated twice.

The man was treated in intensive care and later made a full recovery and was there to see Pc Dickinson receive his award.
