AN ILKESTON drug dealer jailed for supplying crack cocaine was caught after trying to run away from police.
Mark Colton fled from two officers walking towards him and threw a bag to the floor in Ebenezer Street in May 2010.
They chased and detained him and, after a search, recovered the bag containing numerous wraps of crack cocaine. Colton’s fingerprints were found on the bag.
Colton, of Victoria Street, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
He was jailed for 33 months at Derby Crown Court on January 11.
Insp Nick Daines, from Ilkeston station, said: “This is a positive result and demonstrates that we will do all we can to disrupt the supply of drugs in the area and take action against those involved.
“Without the public’s help we cannot tackle the problems surrounding drugs and I’d encourage people to carry on ringing either the police or Crimestoppers with details of those involved in drugs.”
