NOTTINGHAMSHIRE police have launched a public consultation into the planned closure of Stapleford police station.

A force spokesman said that, on average, just one incident every 10 days was reported at the Toton Lane station between April 2010 and March 2011. The closure would save the force about £49,000 a year. The spokesman said a ‘local venue’ would be arranged for the town’s Safer Neighbourhood team.
