Burglars have stolen medals from the Second World War after forcing their way into a house in Ilkeston.

The offenders kicked open a door at the back of a house on Flamstead Road between the morning of Friday April 8 and Wednesday April 13.

Among the items stolen were medals with ribbons and certificates of authenticity. The medals were inscribed with the surname ‘Gittings’, which was also on the certificates.

Other valuables taken included two laptops, cash, jewellery, a gold watch with a square face and a chain instead of a strap, and a second gold watch with the name ‘J Hall’ inscribed on the rear.

Detectives investigating the break-in want to hear from anyone who saw suspicious activity between those dates or who may have been offered any of the items for sale.

Anyone with information should call DC Lesley Smith on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
