A MAN stripped of more than £2,500 by magistrates earlier this month has now been jailed for three years for growing cannabis.

Ian Hawkins was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, March 23 to three years after pleading guilty to producing cannabis.

As part of the investigation into the grow, police searched a Long Eaton industrial unit and his home in High Lane East, West Hallam.

Det Supt Terry Branson said: “The forfeiture order at magistrate’s court and Hawkins’ later jail sentence illustrates what an excellent case this is for the force. It shows the outstanding work done by the local Safer Neighbourhood officers investigating the cannabis grow and the financial investigators who brought the proceeds of crime case to court.”
