A man assaulted a woman walking alone in Ilkeston and then ran off, police have said.
The 20-year-old was walking home from Tesco along the alleyway off Rutland Street about 12.20am on Tuesday.
She turned around to see the man directly behind her, who then hit her on the head, knocking her to the floor.
She tried to get up and he hit her again.
She told him to ‘take anything’ but instead he turned and ran towards Tesco.
She was left with cuts on her head which needed gluing at hospital.
The attacker was about 5ft 5ins tall, of slim build, wearing dark clothing.
Call police on 101 with information.
