Woman ‘glassed in face’

POLICE have arrested a woman after a pub-goer was glassed in the face and needed 40 stitches.

The alleged attack happened at Shakers bar in Ilkeston Market Place at about 9.50pm on Saturday night.

Police said that the 24-year-old victim had got into an argument with another woman who hit her in the face with a glass.

The ambulance service contacted police and paramedics took the victim to hospital where she was treated for cuts to her lower lip and chin.

Her injuries required 40 stitches.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding.

She was interviewed and has been released on police bail, pending further enquiries.
