AN ILKESTON painting and decorating family firm has scooped a national award for restoration work on a church.
Erewash Borough Councillor Louis Booth spends his days in overalls working for his firm Professional Decorators, often with his son John’s help.
He said: “We were shocked to even be nominated and then didn’t really think anything of it until we got a call saying we’d been shortlisted.
“We were invited to London and went to the ceremony and came away with a national award from the Painting and Decorating Association.
“We couldn’t believe it. It’s a great way to celebrate 25 years of business and proof that small businesses can succeed.
“We were up against massive national companies yet we won the award. It’s really encouraging and great that we were chosen.”
