A Derbyshire MP has called for unity after the UK’s historic vote to leave the European Union.
Maggie Throup, Conservative MP for Erewash and ‘remain’ campaigner also said that it was important people accepte the decision and worked together to ensure the best possible exit terms for the UK.
She said: “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, we have delivered on our key manifesto commitment to hold an In/Out Referendum on the country’s EU Membership, giving the British people their say on this issue for the first time in over forty years.
“The people have now spoken and quite rightly we must accept this decision, unite on both sides of the argument and work together to negotiate the best exit terms for our country.
“We must now grasp this golden opportunity to build a new, stronger, independent Britain. I look forward to playing my part in this process and remain committed to standing up for our community here in Erewash.”
