An eight-year-old boy had to have stitches after being bitten on the face by a family dog.
The animal, which has since been destroyed, attacked the child on December 27 while he was playing with the pet at the family home in Erewash Square.
The boy was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, described by police as ‘minor’.
Police said they were contacted on December 28 by a third party about the attack.
The dog was a rescue dog and is believed to have been a husky or samoyed-type breed.
The boy’s family have declined to comment.
