MORE than 50 dogs walked the fields of Awsworth in fancy dress to raise money for a new building at Babbington Rescue.
Staff at Babbington Rescue and dog wardens at Broxtowe Borough Council raised £1,200 on the walk to help pay to re-build the main block at the centre.
The £100,000 scheme was put on hold because of an influx in unwanted pets and a subsequent shortfall in finance.
Babbington Rescue have dealt with in excess of 1,300 dogs in 2011 and spent over £1,000 per week on vet bills.
Centre owner Tony Sanderson said he needs to raise another £26,000 to get the building off the ground.
“We would love a sponsor to come along to help with this desperately needed building,” he said.
