A VISIT to Ilkeston School from a rock legend has been hailed as one of the best workshops the school has ever held.
About 180 students from year seven to year 13 and some pupils from Chaucer Junior School gathered at the King George Avenue school to see Jeff Rich, former drummer with dads’ favourite stadium rockers Status Quo.
He performed for the children and later gave them the opportunity to get behind the kit and have a bash themselves.
School arts co-ordinator Kate Le Prevost said: “It was one of the best workshops we have ever had at the school.
“It was inspirational.
“Some of the kids had never held a pair of drumsticks before so it was great to see everyone so eager to have a go.”
Jeff introduced the children to different drumming techniques as well as showing them some weird and wonderful drums from across the world.
Jeff was drummer with Status Quo in their heyday from 1984 to 2000.
