Courts to classrooms

A SANDIACRE secondary school has expanded by converting four former squash courts into extra teaching space.

Friesland School’s £290,000 project has seen the courts and a function room at the neighbouring Friesland Sports Centre, turned into classrooms.

The function room will become a conference facility, which will be available for use by the wider community, according to Derbyshire County Council, which provided £270,000 of the cash for the project.

Some of the school’s classrooms may now be converted into a science lab.
