Students get through to national finals

BRIGHT sparks from Kirk Hallam Community College have secured a place in the national finals of an eco-friendly technology competition.

Jessica Cowley, Louisa Bull, Elliot Johnson and Jack Henshaw won £1,000 for their school after winning the regional round of the Toyota Technology Competition last Thursday.

The team, called 4D, will now race an environmentally-friendly model vehicle, which they designed and built themselves, at the national finals at Toyota’s Burnaston plant on Saturday May 26.

They will be competing against schools from all over the country in a bid to win an action-packed adventure holiday in France and to up the prize money for the Godfrey Drive school to £4,000.

Nick Freeman assistant general manager, external affairs at Toyota Manufacturing UK said: “Each year the standard of project submissions continues to impress us.”
