Elections for youth council

BUDDING young politicians are battling for votes to become the new members of Derbyshire’s Youth Council.

Students aged 11 to 18 from county schools can nominate themselves for the election, run by Derbyshire County Council, which takes place in Matlock on March 29.

They have until Friday 10 February to put themselves forward, with voting taking place between March 19 and 23.

Cllr Barry Lewis said: “I want to encourage as many people as possible to take part.”
