EREWASH MP Jessica Lee has pledged her continuing support to the Advertiser’s Back on Track campaign after speaking in the Houses of Parliament about the issue.

Miss Lee raised the need for a train station in Ilkeston to a packed House on September 16.

In questions to Sir George Young MP, the Leader of the House, Miss Lee asked if time could be made for a debate in the House on the future of the train network and train station provision.

The response from the Leader of the House was that in the case of Ilkeston, communication had been made to Derbyshire County Council about the issue and Miss Lee was invited to continue to lobby the local authority.

Sir George Young wished Miss Lee luck with the campaign.

Speaking after, Miss Lee said: “I was pleased to have the opportunity to raise the campaign to reopen the train station in the Commons.

“I will continue to campaign on this important issue and do what I can to achieve this goal.

“The reopening of the train station would help bring commuters, shoppers and businesses to our area and for that reason I will continue to lobby Derbyshire County Council.”
