WHILE all the fun of Ilkeston Charter Fair was in full swing out on the streets this weekend, staff at a town centre shop were coaxing revellers in to help raise cash for charity.
Staff at Wilkinson in Bath Street had a fancy dress day themed around the fair and held a raffle in aid of Age UK –the store’s national charity of the year.
Employees wrapped up warm in hats, scarves and gloves –the traditional outfit for the October fair – raising an impressive £608 through raffling off top prizes, including a table and chairs set worth £175 and a patio set worth £100.
Till supervisor Claire Riley said: “It went very well – everyone got into the spirit of the fair.”
The store will hold another event in aid of Age UK later in the year.
