An Ilkeston woman left behind a career in law to realise her dream of opening a cafe.
Helen Witham, 45, owns Delicious cafe on Nottingham Road with husband Jay, 45.
She runs the cafe with her mum, Barbara Garratt, daughter Keri and friend Gayle Statham.
The cafe opened on January 27 and has been a huge success so far.
Helen said: “I worked in law before but this was something that I always wanted to do. I make my own cakes anyway so it’s an extension of that.
“We are doing well so far, I’m quite pleased, it’s better than I expected.”
The cafe serves all day breakfasts, jacket potatoes, paninis, sandwiches, omelettes, quiches, waffles, cakes and scones, plus a range of hot drinks.
There is also a specials board every day with meals such as cottage pie, lasagne and pasta bakes.
Delicious is open between 8.30am and 3pm Monday to Saturday. More information can be found on their Facebook page.
The cafe was previously known as Bitter Sweet and the premises was closed for two months when the former owners left
