The family of a woman who died from Motor Neurone Disease will take part in a moonlight walk in her memory.

The Meeson family from West Hallam are taking part in the sixth Treetops Hospice Moonlight Walk in memory of mum and grandmother Carol McNaughton, who died in October last year.

The ladies-only event on Friday, 12 June 2015 is a 5k or 10k sponsored walk around Derby city centre, starting and ending at the University of Derby. Walkers raise money for Treetops Hospice, which provides end of life care and bereavement support.

In the run up to last year’s event, Sarah Meeson and her daughters Beth, 22, Laura, 20 and Niamh, 15, were pictured with Carol at Treetops Day Care Unit in Risley where she was a guest.

The family have decided to do the walk again and are allowing their picture to be used on publicity material such as registration forms and a bus advert.

Sarah said: “When the nurses are there you can just relax. You know she’s in safe hands. It gives you that break, even if you only get three or four hours sleep.

“The Treetops nurse explained what was happening, and was so honest and clear that it took that little bit of fear out of it.”
