A KEY cutting and shoe repair shop is offering firefighters that tackled a blaze at the store free boot polishing as a thank you for their efforts.

Timpsons, on Bath Street, reopened last week for the first time since the blaze on August 27.

Store manager Paul Gratton expressed his sincere appreciation to those who helped him on the day and paid tribute to the emergency services who tackled the blaze.

He said: “I’m really grateful to my fellow retailers for their support, the police and particularly to members of the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service from Ilkeston, Heanor, Nottingham Road, Derby and Eastwood who attended the incident.

“As a special thank you to the teams who fought the fire that day I’m offering them free boot cleaning for the rest of the year as a gesture of my sincere appreciation for their professionalism and bravery. They do such a great job.”
