First step to career in Navy

A MORLEY teenager celebrated the first milestone in her military career this weekend as she passed out from Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College.

Josie Lockwood, 18, is now hoping to train with the Royal Navy at Britannia Royal Naval College to become a marine or air engineer, after going to Birmingham University next September to study civil engineering.

She said before the Annual General Inspection event on Saturday at the Loughborough college: “After the last few months of hard work and study, Saturday will be a day of celebration. I am looking forward to my parents being there to see me standing proud with the rest of the college in my uniform representing my service.”

The event was the most prestigious event in the college calendar and gave the students the opportunity to show off their military parade skills.
