Christmas shoppers in Ilkeston can enjoy 24-hour free parking over the Christmas period.
Every council-run car parks will be free to park in from Monday December 16 to Friday January 3 in a bid to give a boost to traders and shoppers.
Cllr Barbara Harrison, Erewash Borough Council’s lead member for the environment, said: “We know this good news will be warmly welcomed and offering 24-hour free parking is a further demonstration of our commitment to the on-going drive to help and support our town centres.
“We have excellent markets and shops in Ilkeston and Long Eaton – and in villages across the borough – so we hope residents will shop locally, while visitors will also be attracted to the borough to do their Christmas shopping.”
All of the council’s car parks are part of the scheme, with the exception of the Long Eaton Railway Station commuters’ car park.
