Conservative councillors in Erewash have given money to help support a group for carers who meet monthly.
Councillor, Jo Bonam, presented a cheque for £250 towards the cost of the Outlook Centre in Long Eaton and other councillors donated money from their Community Grant Fund. The fund was set up by the council to enable individual councillors to help projects and organisations within their ward.
Pat Desborough, who runs the group, invites all carers in Erewash to join. She said: “As you may be aware carers can feel very isolated at times so having groups like this can help reduce that isolation and they can be assured that they are not alone.”
Council Leader, Chris Corbett, said he was delighted at the response from councillors to assist such a worthwhile cause: “I would expect nothing less, it is a truly generous gesture that will enable Carers from all over Erewash to take part in a very special service at a very special time of year.”
